Why we built this

Hundreds of AI tools launch every month, and a surprising number are shut down, acquired, or abandoned within a year or two. When that happens, the marketing pages usually vanish and the news gets buried — leaving teams paying for tools that no longer ship, or comparing options that no longer exist.

We keep a running record instead: what a tool did, what happened to it, when the signals changed, and what people are using today in its place.

How we decide a tool is dead

Every status change combines automated checks with human review. We watch website and domain health, official announcements, changelog and release activity, social and community signals, and pricing-page changes. A tool only moves to a new status once those signals agree, and each tool page shows the timeline behind that call.

We get things wrong sometimes — tools come back, acquisitions get announced late, and outages look like shutdowns. If you spot something inaccurate, please report it or suggest an update.
