In March 2024 Microsoft hired CEO Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder Karen Simonyan, and most research staff in a $650M licensing deal that left Inflection a hollowed-out shell. Pi still loads and answers messages, but new models are not in active training and the company pivoted to enterprise AI services.

Despite the litigation, Udio has continued shipping new models, including v1.5 with full-song generation and remixing.
